Hotello of the Year Award
The Hotello of the Year Award is an annual competition for the alumni of the Dutch Hotel Management Schools who have made their mark in the business, and are a recognized and well-known as Hotello with the core values; hospitality, energetic, social, inventive and pragmatic, and ambitious with a great drive. This year the selection committee brought a total of 45 nominees back to a TOP 9. After some
heavy discussions, the jury chose the TOP 3 candidates. The three finalists got the chance to introduce themselves on stage, during the HotelloTOP Year Event. The audience was asked to cast their vote one more time to help their favourite finalists. These final votes, together with the votes of the jury and the online campaigns, that took place previous to the event, made that Joost Rietveld beat Desiree Dils and Kiona Malinka in the final. Joost Rietveld won the prestigious award because of his success with Too Good To Go. After coming across the company in Copenhagen, Joost was able to put Too Good To Go on the map in The Netherlands. Too Good To Go fights food waste. After downloading the app, you can choose a magic box; inside the box is food that would otherwise have been thrown away at the end of the day. You never know what is inside of the magic box, but you know it is very tasty and a good deal! The Hotello of the Year Award is annually presented during the HotelloTOP Year Event. The HotelloTOP Year Event’s theme was ‘Hotello Sapiens’. During the congress several speakers took the stage, including Erik Scherder (known as professor in ‘De Wereld Draait Door’). Shortly after the well-known networking drink started, with the ‘Dames Draaien Door’, closing the day in style.
